Events

For more than 60 years, NASW members have made a collective impact on the institutions and policies that help millions of people achieve better lives in their communities. NASW sponsors award programs to honor the highest social work achievements and hosts conferences to showcase excellence throughout the profession.

We also coordinate state-based and nationwide celebrations and campaigns to help educate the public about the many roles of social workers.

NASW-NM is thrilled to invite you to our inaugural Social Work L.E.A.D. - Legislative Education and Advocacy Day, designed for social work professionals just like you.

This virtual event will be held on Thursday, January 30th, 2025. Social workers throughout the state of New Mexico will learn about legislative advocacy and join NASW in continuing our lobbying efforts for state-level policy change. Participants will earn CEUs. The main priority for this year's L.E.A.D. is to lobby support for the Social Work Licensure Compact, a crucial initiative aimed at increasing licensing mobility for social workers nationwide.

Join us for:
  • Engaging discussions, including the NASW-NM advocacy platform and how to continue to be involved and engaged year-round
  • Networking opportunities with fellow social work professionals throughout the state of New Mexico
  • Training on macro social work, influencing policy, lobbying for state-level policy change, and advocating for issues that matter to our field.

Capacity for this event will be limited. To make sure you can join, we recommend registering as soon as possible.

The registration deadline is Friday, January 17th, 2025.

As an attendee of this event, you will have the opportunity to meet virtually via Zoom with a priority legislator and/or their staff for approximately 15-30 minutes on the afternoon of Thursday, January 30th, 2025. Appointments are still being confirmed.
